Kildow Leads Mavericks at Memphis Twilight

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Omaha cross country team opened its season under the lights at the Memphis Twilight Classic on Saturday night.
Senior Ashley Kildow was the Mavericks' top finisher, coming in 12th in the field of 141 runners. The Mavs finished sixth overall out of 14 schools with 160 points.
Mississippi State won the event with a team score of 36 followed by Arkansas State (63) and Mississippi (65).
Kildow ran a time of 18:38.87 over the 5K course. Teammates Kristin Rogers (19:37.50), Alyssa Averhoff (19:47.16) and Catherine Davison (19:47.89) finished 40-41-42. For Averhoff, a freshman, it was her first collegiate meet.
Karo Garcia rounded out the scoring for the Mavericks, coming in 50th in a time of 20:10.80.
The Mavericks return to action next Friday, Sept. 5 for their second straight twilight meet, the Augustana Twilight in Sioux Falls, S.D.
