Kildow Sets Record, Mavs Fifth at Summit

FARGO, N.D. - Ashley Kildow set a school record in the 5,000 meters as the Omaha track & field team tied for fifth in the Summit League Indoor Championship on Saturday at North Dakota State.
Kildow ran the 5,000 in 17:27.80, nearly three seconds faster than the previous record run by Amanda Vorthmann in 2013. Kildow finished in seventh place.
Kildow also posted a personal best time of 4:58.04 in the mile to finish in sixth place.
The Mavericks and Western Illinois each finished with 35 points. North Dakota State won the women's meet with a score of 231, well ahead of runner up South Dakota at 180.5. South Dakota State was third with 114.5 points.
In the 60 meter dash finals, Terri Armstrong finished in eighth place with a time of 7.98.
The Mavericks' 4X400 relay team of Maddie Buller, Alyssa Thavenet, Armstrong and Hannah Fowler earned fifth place with a time of 3:56.29.In the triple jump, Noni Henderson placed eighth with a jump of 36-05 ¾.
Three Mavs placed in the high jump. Stephanie Ahrens earned second place with a mark of 5-07 ¼. Taryn Derickson came in third with a jump of 5-05 ¼. Emily Everitt posted a personal best 5-05 ¼ jump and earned sixth place.
The Mavericks will open their outdoor season on March 21 at the Tulsa Duals in Tulsa, Okla.
