Peters Named Summit Golfer of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. – Omaha golfer Sophie Peters was named the Summit League's Female Golfer of the Week on Wednesday. She is the first Maverick to earn the honor.
Peters set the school record for lowest 36-hole tournament score last weekend when she fired back-to-back even-par rounds of 72 to finish at 144 and in a tie for first at the Red Rocks Invitational at Northern Arizona. Peters was declared the individual medalist after winning a one-hole playoff against Grand Canyon's Charlotte Jaengkit.
Peters broke the old record of 146 held by former Mavericks Sara Wolfe, Erin Ommen and Dani Suponchick. Peters has now shot 72 in three of her last five rounds. They are the lowest rounds shot by a Maverick this season.
The Mavericks are off until March 12-13 when they compete in the Thunderbird Golf Invitational at Southern Utah.
