Maverick Men Travel To Oral Roberts

The Omaha men's golf team is in action next week at the ORU Shootout hosted by Oral Roberts on Monday and Tuesday, April 13-14 in Tulsa, Okla. The women's golf team is off this week.
The Coaches
Tim Nelson is in his 12th season coaching the women's golf team at UNO. Nelson has led the Mavericks to four conference championships including three straight Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association titles before the Mavericks began their reclassification to Division I in 2011. The 1980 UNO grad also has guided the women's team to three NCAA regional titles and three appearances in the NCAA Championship. Seth Porter is in his fourth year at UNO and was elevated to the head coach of the men's team prior to this season. The 2002 graduate of Nebraska was a four-year letter winner there and a former professional player on the Gateway and Canadian Tours.
LAST EVENT - Mavericks Finish 16th at Arkansas Little Rock
The Omaha men's golf team finished 16th at the UALR First Tee Classic on March 31. The Mavericks finished with a team score of 918.
Taylor Sidzyik led the Mavericks in scoring at 223 to finish in a tie for 35th.
Karl Krieser finished at 230, good for a tie for 64th while Alex Holtan posted a total of 232, good for a tie for 68th.
Phillip Baumberger shot a score of 238 that put him in a tie for 82nd. Caleb Haight finished the scoring for the Mavericks with a score of 239.
LAST EVENT - Women Tie For 15th at Morehead State Invitational
The Omaha women's golf team tied for 15th at the MSU Ocala Spring Invitational on March 24. The Mavericks finished with a team score of 955 over three rounds at the Juliette Falls Golf Resort, putting them in a tie with Tampa.
Katie Kesti led the Mavericks finishing at 232, good for 43rd place. She was one stroke ahead of Sophie Peters who finished in a tie for 44th.
Megan Vetrovsky carded a score of 234, good for a tie for 51st. Makenna Kroeker posted a total score of 256, putting her 92nd. Alexa Ruwe concluded the scoring for the Mavericks with a three-day total of 278.
Rankings
Krieser is 12th in the Summit League for scoring average at 74.7 through 24 rounds this season. He is the only Maverick ranked in the top 20. Denver's Petter Mikalsen leads the league with an average of 70.6 in 25 rounds.
As a team, the Maverick men rank sixth out of nine schools with a team 18-hole stroke average of 303.8.
On the women's side, Sophie Peters is just outside the top 20 in the league with a stroke average of 79.1 in 25 rounds. Alejandra Acosta of Oral Roberts leads the Summit League with a stroke average of 74.4 in 25 rounds
As a team, the Mavs also are sixth in the Summit with an 18-hole average of 322.8 in 25 rounds.

The men's team will be back in action at the Beu/Mussatto Invitational hosted by Western Illinois on Monday and Tuesday, April 20-21 at Macomb, Ill., its last event before the Summit League Championship in early May. The women's team will be off until concluding its season at the Summit League Championship on Monday-Wednesday, April 20-22 in Monterey Bay, Calif.
