Mavericks Tied For Fourth at Summit Championship

MACOMB, Ill. – The Omaha track & field team opened competition at the Summit League Outdoor Championship on Wednesday.
The Mavericks are tied with Oral Roberts for fourth after the first day with six points. North Dakota State, the defending champion, leads with 62.5 points. South Dakota is second with 59.5.
In the heptathlon, Amanda Alexander had two personal bests in the first four events and is currently in seventh place with 1,838 points. In the 100 meter hurdles, she was sixth out of the eight athletes competing with a time of 16.54, her first PR.
After not clearing a height in the high jump, she came back with a personal best mark of 37-03 ¼ in the shot put, the second-best mark in the event and more than a foot and a half better than her previous PR.
She finished the first day of the heptathlon with a time of 28.79, good for seventh, and just off her personal best.
Alexander was busy on day one. She also finished eighth in the javelin with a mark of 124-04, the second-best throw of her career. That put her just behind teammate Megan Adams who was seventh with a throw of 125-08, a personal best by more than 13 feet.
In the final event of the day, Kristin Rogers took sixth in the 10,000 meters with a time of 38:09.39, a season best.
The second day of competition begins with the completion of the men's decathlon and the women's heptathlon at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Hanson Stadium at Western Illinois.
