OMAHA, Neb. – For the second time in three semesters, the student-athletes of Omaha Athletics achieved a cumulative all-student grade point average of better than 3.40.
In the spring of 2015, UNO's 264 student-athletes posted a combined GPA of 3.406, just shy of equaling the school's best student-athlete combined semester GPA of 3.429 (Spring 2014).
“Our student-athletes have worked very diligently to strike the balance between success in their academic work and in their endeavors in athletics,” said Lindsey Ekwerekwu, Assistant Athletic Director, Academics. “Clearly, that hard work is paying off.
“This past spring was particularly strong with another all student-athlete GPA above 3.40. That included seven teams with semester GPAs at 3.5 or greater.”
For the fourth straight semester, women's tennis led all teams with a combined GPA of 3.795 in the spring. It also has UNO's best cumulative team GPA at 3.782.
The hockey team had the Mavericks' best men's team GPA in the spring at 3.650 including a remarkable 18 team members on the Dean's List and another on the Chancellor's List out of a roster of 25 players. It also has UNO's best men's team cumulative GPA at 3.536.
In the spring, 136 student-athletes, 52 percent, were members of either the Dean's (100) or Chancellor's (36) Lists. In addition, 215 student-athletes achieved at least a 3.0 grade point average.
