Omaha Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Omaha track & field team has been named a Division I All-Academic Team by the national coaches association.
The Mavericks were one of 224 women's teams honored nationwide by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Friday. To earn the distinction, teams have to earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or better.
UNO posted a GPA of 3.50 and was one of six Summit League schools to be so honored. The Mavericks ranked third out of six.
In addition, freshman Stephanie Ahrens earned individual USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for earning a GPA of 3.25 or better in at least two semesters and finishing in the top 96 indoors in an individual event. Her school record of 5-10 3/4 in the high jump tied her for 26th nationally. Ahrens is studying architectural engineering.
Omaha finished fifth in the Summit League both indoors and outdoors during the 2014-15 season, the last of their four-year reclassification to Division I. The Mavericks will be eligible for the NCAA Championships for the first time this season.
