Mavericks Picked Fourth in Pre-Season XC Poll

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Omaha cross country team has been picked fourth in The Summit League's annual preseason cross country poll released on Wednesday.
The Mavericks, who are eligible for the Summit League Championship for the first time this season, received 24 points in the voting of the league's coaches.
Defending Summit champion South Dakota was picked to repeat, receiving 47 points in the voting and six first-place votes. North Dakota State received the other two first-place votes and came in second with 42 points, followed closely by South Dakota State with 40 points. The full results of the poll are below.
The Mavericks were fifth in the 2014 Summit championship and return three runners who competed in that meet including senior Perla Gutierrez, junior Karo Garcia and sophomore Alyssa Averhoff.
The Mavericks open the season on Friday, Sept. 4 at the Augustana Twilight in Sioux Falls, S.D.
