Mavericks Back In Action at Kansas State

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha track & field team emerges from its holiday break at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Kansas State on Saturday, Jan. 9. Competition begins at 11 a.m.
This is just the second indoor meet for the Mavericks who began the season in Manhattan at the K-State Winter Invitational on Dec. 12.
In that meet, Amanda Conlin earned fifth in the shot put with a personal best distance of 44-03 ½. Freshman Anna Edet was sixth with a throw of 38-04 ¾.
In the weight throw, Lauren Doeschot was just short of a personal best with a distance of 43-00 ¼, good for fifth place. Edet was right behind in sixth with a mark of 42-06 ¼ while her fellow freshman, Maddy Partridge, was seventh with a throw of 37-04 ½.
In the jumps, Taryn Derickson was third in the high jump with a leap of 5-04 ¼.
Freshman TaLeah Williams led a 2-3-4 finish in the long jump. She was second with a jump of 17-07 ½. Nicole Liske was third at 16-10 ½, just ahead of Noni Henderson who took fourth at 16-10.
Henderson also finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 34-11 ¾.
On the track, Liske tied a personal best in the 60 meters with a time of 8.02. Freshman Mackenzie Zach was eighth at 8.18 while Tschida Johnson was 10th at 8.31.
In the 1,000 meters, Alexis Allgood was at the front of a 3-4-5 finish for the Mavericks. She put up a time of 3:08.33, just ahead of freshman Lauren Houston who finished in 3:10.37. Annie Catania was fifth at 3:21.72.
Following the meet at K-State, the Mavericks move on to the USD Open at South Dakota on Saturday, Jan. 16.
