
Mavericks Tied For 10th at Old Dominion

POWELLS POINT, N.C. – Kevin Gordon shot a one-under round of 70 to pace the Omaha men's golf team to a tie for 10th after the first round of the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate.
The Mavericks fired a team score of 296, the third-best team round of the season, to tie them with North Dakota State and George Washington. Akron leads the 54-hole event with a score of 279 while Ball State is second at 281. Host Old Dominion is third at 282.
Gordon's below-par round was his team-leading fourth of the season. He is tied for 12th in the field of 93 golfers.
Freshmen Kelly Brown and Max Hellstrom are tied for second on the team and tied for 56th overall with matching rounds of 75.
Mitch Ryan shot 76 over the 6,550-yard layout at Kilmarlic Golf Club, putting him fourth for the Mavericks and in a tie for 61st overall. He is one stroke ahead of fellow senior Ben Maskus whose 77 has him in a tie for 63rd.
The second round begins at 7:30 a.m. CT on Monday.
