Stepp's School Record Paces Mavs at Omaha Invite

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha swimming & diving team opened its annual Mutual of Omaha Invitional Thursday evening at HPER Pool. Following the first seven events, the Mavericks sit in second place with 245 total team points.
Morgan Stepp led the charge for Omaha, as the senior swam to a school record in the 500 free. The Parker, Colo., native raced to a sub-five minute finish (4:58.92) – the first such effort in Omaha swimming history. Stepp broke a six-year record set by Lindsey Kline in 2009 (5:00.77).
Sophomore Annika Clinton prevailed in the 3-meter diving final, completing the event with a season-best 6-dive score of 262.30. Freshman Andrea Brosnahan finished third in the final, penciling in a score of 245.90.
The 200 medley relay foursome of juniors Kendra Lair, Tiril Jensen, Olivia McLain and sophomore Kirsten Kracke placed second in the night's first event, finishing with a season-best time of 1:45.46.
Sophomore Grete Baker finished second in the 200 IM, her 2:07.90 time was a season-best mark.
The 200 free relay quartet of Kracke, freshmen Anna Capoun and Brook Landt and junior Cassie Jahn swam to a season-low time of 1:36.79.
Omaha continues the Mutual of Omaha Invite tomorrow, Dec. 2. Prelims are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., while finals will start at 6 p.m. at HPER Pool.
