Feb 18, 2016 | Track & Field
OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha track and field team will cap off the indoor regular season in Lincoln, Neb. at the Nebraska Tune-Up on Friday, Feb. 19. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
The Mavericks look to continue to peak as the indoor season winds down. As a team Omaha set 15 personal highs and four season bests last weekend at the SDSU Classic.
Sophomore Stephanie Ahrens led the charge for the Mavs in the field events with another top performance in the high jump. Her jump of 5-10 set a season best and pushed her even further into the top of the Summit League in the high jump.
Also in high jump, junior Taryn Derickson finished in fifth with a leap of 5-5, a season best.
Freshman Lauren Houston paced Omaha in the running events last weekend. Houston set a personal best and the meet record in the 800 with a time of 2:09.99. She now ranks second in the Summit League and in school history.
Also in the 800, junior Alyssa Thavenet set a personal best and finished seventh with a time of 2:16.16.
Next week, the Mavericks will compete in the Summit League Indoor Championships on Feb. 26-27 in Fort Wayne, Ind.
