Stepp Breaks School Record at League Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Omaha swimming & diving team continued its trek at the 2016 Summit League Swimming & Diving Championships Thursday at IU Natatorium, completing the second day of events in fifth place with a total of 146 points.
Junior Morgan Stepp broke her own school record in the 200 IM, finishing with a time if 2:03.08 for fifth place. Stepp's previous record in the event was set Dec. 5, 2015 at the Mutual of Omaha Invite, where the Parker, Colo., product shattered Ashley Renshaw's old mark of 2:04.68.
“We had a lot of great swims today, but Morgan breaking her own 200 IM record was icing on the cake," head coach Todd Samland said. "We are looking to go into tomorrow morning ready to fight for some more second swims."
Senior Natalie Renshaw finished seventh in the 50 free, clocking a season-best performance of 23.52. Freshman Kylie Vermeire also competed in the 500 free, placing 10th with a time of 5:04.54 for the fifth-fastest mark in school history.
Omaha returns to the pool on Friday, Feb. 19 for day three at the Summit League Championships. Action begins with the preliminary events at 10 a.m. (CT), while the finals are slated to get underway at 5 p.m. (CT). Links to live stats will be available on OMavs.com.
