
Omaha Kicks Off Summit League Food Fight This Week

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha Athletic Department begins competition in the 2016 Summit League Food Fight this week. The non-perishable food drive runs February 4-18.
All nine Summit League institutions are competing to raise the most pounds of food and earn the food fight trophy. Cash donations are also accepted with a $5 donation equaling 13 lbs. of food.
The student lead initiative is organized and executed by the Omaha Athletics Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. They are asking fans to bring non-perishable food items, or make monetary donations, at upcoming athletic events to benefit the Maverick Food Pantry.
The Omaha Athletic Department would also like to thank NP Dodge Real Estate and the Dodge Cares initiative for their support of the event.
Fans who donate $10 or 10 cans of food will receive a Summit League t-shirt. Fans who donate $5 or 5 cans of food will receive a reusable grocery bag branding with the Maverick 'O' and the Summit League logo.
Donations will be collected at the following games:
Saturday, Feb. 6: men's basketball vs. Denver at 1:00 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 7: women's basketball vs. South Dakota at 2:00 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 10: men's basketball vs. South Dakota State at 7 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 12: hockey vs. Western Michigan at 6:37 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 18: women's basketball vs. IUPUI at 7 p.m.
