Maskus Earns Summit Golfer of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. – Junior Ben Maskus has been named the Summit League's Men's Golfer of the Week. He is the first ever Maverick to earn the men's honor, sharing it with Oral Roberts' Cody Burrows.
Maskus shot UNO's lowest 54-hole score in the Division I era, leading the Omaha men's golf team at the Desert Shootout last weekend.
Maskus shot a final round score of 68, four under par, to finish at 213 for the tournament. It was one stroke better than the previous record set by Karl Krieser almost one year ago to the day at the Wallace Jones Invitational at Louisiana Monroe.
Maskus carded six birdies against just two bogeys in the final round to finish in a tie for 36th overall in the field of 116 golfers.
Maskus' career-low round led the Mavericks to the best 18-hole team score in school history, a tally of 287.
The Mavericks return to action at the UALR First Tee Classic at Little Rock, Ark. on Monday and Tuesday, March 28-29.
