NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – The Omaha women's golf team is in eight place after the first round of the Summit League Championship.
The Mavericks shot a team score of 328 to sit nine strokes behind seventh-place Western Illinois and six clear of ninth-place Fort Wayne. Denver leads after the first round with a score of 295, 20 strokes ahead of Oral Roberts in second. South Dakota is third at 317.
Megan Vetrovsky led the Mavericks in the opening round with a five-over-par score of 77 at ArborLinks. She's tied for seventh overall in the field of 45 golfers.
Makenna Kroeker shot 82 in round one, putting second for the Mavericks and tied for 26th overall. Katie Kesti was two strokes back of Kroeker at 84 to sit tied 30th overall.
Jordan York shot a score of 85 and Mandy Boyle fired a round of 87 to put them in a tie for 34th and 41st place respectively.
The middle round of the 54-hole tournament begins Tuesday at 8 a.m.
