Ahrens, Mavericks Receive USTFCCCA Academic Nods

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Omaha track & field team and high jumper Stephanie Ahrens earned All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Ahrens was one of 42 individual Summit League athletes and one of 27 Summit women to be honored. To earn the award, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or better; and indoors, ranked in the top 96 in an individual event or top 48 of a relay event; or outdoors, must have participated in any round of the NCAA track & field championships.
Ahrens was All-Summit both indoors and outdoors for finishing in the top three in the high jump. Indoors, she took second in the high jump and third in the 60 meter hurdles. Outdoors, she was the Summit League champion in the high jump with a leap of 5-07. She went on to qualify for the NCAA West Preliminaries.
For the season, Ahrens finished with the Summit's top high jump mark both indoors (5-10) and outdoors (5-11 1/4).
As a team, the Mavericks were one of women's 220 teams named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for their collective achievement. They posted a combined GPA of 3.44 for the 2015-16 academic year. The Mavericks have been named an All-Academic Team every year since the USTFCCCA began giving the award in 2011.
