
Mavericks Run at Woody Greeno Invitational

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha cross country team returns to action this weekend at the Woody Greeno Nebraska Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17. The meet begins at 10:00 a.m. at Pioneers Park in Lincoln.
This is the second meet for the Mavericks this season. Omaha opened the 2016 season with a fourth-place finish at the Augustana Twilight on Sept. 2.
Freshman Willa Koenig led the Mavericks with a top-20 performance in her collegiate debut. She earned a 17th place finish with a time of 17:21.78.
Kayla Sabotin was second for UNO and 20th overall with a time of 17:31.18, nearly nine seconds ahead of teammate Renata Valquier-Chavez who was 25th overall with a time of 17:40.43.
Alyssa Averhoff was fourth for Omaha and came in 35th with a time of 18:18.06 while narrowly edging out teammate Anita Jenkins. Jenkins finished the scoring for the Mavericks with a time of 18:18.44 with a 36th place finish.
Following the race at Nebraska, the Mavericks will head north to Minneapolis, Minn. to compete in the Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 24.
