Omaha Kicks Off Summit League Food Fight Nov. 29

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha Athletic Department and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) kick off the annual Summit League Food Fight Challenge this week at Baxter Arena, partnering with WOWT NBC Omaha.
Fans who bring two non-perishable food items to at least one of six designated games at Baxter Arena from Wednesday, Nov. 29 to Wednesday, Dec. 6 will receive a voucher for a free ticket to a future men's or women's basketball game on select dates. SAAC will collect all food donations at the Baxter Arena Box Office and the door upon entrance to games.
WOWT will also hold a donation opportunity in the Baxter Arena parking lot on Thursday, Dec. 7 from 5 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. All donations collected over the nine-day span will benefit the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry, which provides food for more than 25,000 people in the Omaha community each year.
Additionally, fans may donate online through YouGiveGoods at YouGiveGoods.com/omahafooddrive.
All eight Summit League institutions are competing to earn the annual Food Fight trophy. At the end of the Food Fight schedule, the league school that collects the most food (measured in pounds) will be declared the winner.
