Swimming Completes Second Day of Kansas Classic

TOPEKA, Kan. – The Omaha swimming program concluded its second day of competition at the Kansas Classic.

Thus far, Kansas leads the way with 848.5 points, followed by Iowa State in second (453.5), North Texas in third (412), Northern Iowa in fourth (333), Omaha in fifth (189) and Little Rock in sixth (164).

Several Mavericks impressed at the meet. In the 200-yard freestyle, Lauryn Schieffer finished the prelims with a time of 1:57.58. Rachel Morrow had the fastest time of her teammates in the event, as she swam a 1:52.02 in the prelims.

Kirsten Kracke finished the 100-yard backstroke in the prelims with a time of 58.24. For the 100-yard butterfly, Grete Baker led the way for the Mavericks with a time of 57.73 followed by Kylene Abraham with a 58.20.

For the 400-yard IM, Abbey Mitchell and Rebecca Martini paced Omaha with times of 4:39.38 and 4:42.10, respectively.

The Maverick conclude competition Sunday, Nov. 18, for the final day of the Kansas Classic.
