Mavericks Post Several Top-10 Efforts at Kansas Classic

TOPEKA, Kan. – Omaha swimming concluded its final day at the Kansas Classic Sunday, Nov. 28.
With a total of 1,279.5 points, Kansas won the overall meet, followed by Iowa State (642.5), North Texas (575), Northern Iowa (478), Omaha (253) and Little Rock (237).
The duo of Rachel Morrow and Grete Baker both earned All-Invite honors after scoring 32 points apiece for the team.
"I saw people challenge themselves and push beyond their comfort zones to overcome some mental obstacles," said head coach Todd Samland. "The team support and encouragement was a big part of our success this weekend. Many members of our team had lifetime best performances and truly amazing swims. I am extremely pleased with our team performance at this meet."
In the 200-yard freestyle relay finals, the team of Madison Ewald, Morrow, Anna Capoun and Kirsten Kracke finished eighth overall with a time of 1:35.35.
Morrow had her best finish of the meet with a fourth-place result in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.98. She also finished 11th overall in the 500-free with a time of 5:02.38. Later on in the 50-yard freestyle, she narrowly missed the top-10 with a time of 23.99 for 13th. Morrow also had a 10th place finish after she posted a 1:51.42 in the 200-yard freestyle.
Baker notched a top-10 performance in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:05.38 to finish ninth, and followed up with a fourth-place finish in the 400-yard IM (4:27.80). She also finished 11th in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.24.
The Mavericks return to action after Thanksgiving break with a Dec. 18 dual meet on the road at Sioux Falls. The meet is set for noon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
