Mavericks Sign Two More For Next Year

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha cross country head coach Cliff Cisar announced the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent today.
Claire Lieb and Danielle Howard will join the Mavericks for the 2019-20 academic year, running both cross country and the distance events for the track & field team.
"I'm very thrilled to have Claire and Danielle join the Maverick family," said Cisar. "They both bring to the table exactly what a coach likes to see. They are excellent students, great people and are extremely passionate about the sports of cross country and track.
"I look forward to watching them develop throughout the remainder of their senior years and can't wait to get to work with them next fall."
Lieb will come to Omaha from Wichita, Kan. where she is a four-year letter winner at Trinity Academy. This past fall, she was both the league and 4A regional individual champion in cross country, helping her team to a league championship and a runner-up finish in the regional. As a junior, she also was the league champion in cross country and finished eighth overall in the state meet. In track and field, she was the league champion in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters and qualified for the state meet in the 3,200 after taking third in the regional meet. For her career, she has won a total of five league championships, earned all-state recognition in cross country and set her school's record in the 5,000 meters.
Howard is a native of Sioux Falls, S.D. where she has lettered for four years at Roosevelt High School. This past fall, she qualified for the state meet in cross country. As a junior last year, she qualified for the state championship track & field meet in the 3,200 meters, finishing sixth, and in the 4 x 800 meter relay which finished third. She also qualified for the state meet in cross country.
The Mavericks open the indoor track & field season on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7-8, at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic hosted by Northwest Missouri State.
