ELMHURST, Ill. – Senior Stephanie Ahrens has been named the Summit League track & field athlete of the week.

Ahrens posted the league's top high jump mark this season with a leap of 5-09 ¾ at the Nebraska Tune-Up last Friday in Lincoln. The Lincoln, Neb. native has held the top spot in the event throughout the indoor season and is a favorite in the event at the Summit League Indoor Championships this weekend in Fargo, N.D. She currently ranks 40th in the event in in the NCAA.

It is the third weekly honor from the Summit league in Ahrens' career.

Ahrens won the Summit high jump title outdoors for the second straight year last season but did not compete indoors due to injury. As a freshman, she set Omaha's indoor high jump record at 5-10 ¾.

The Mavericks begin competition in the Summit League Championships on Friday, Feb. 23 at 9:30 a.m. at North Dakota State's Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility. The meet concludes on Saturday, Feb. 24.
