
Senior Stephanie Ahrens is participating in the NCAA West Preliminary for the third straight year after winning the Summit League high jump championship.

OMAHA, Neb. – Senior Stephanie Ahrens will compete in the high jump at the NCAA track & field West Preliminary on Thursday, May 24 at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium. The high jump will begin at 6 p.m. CT.
Ahrens is one of eight athletes tied for 14th in the NCAA and one of four tied for 10th in the west region in the event. She posted a lifetime best and school record mark of 5-11 ½ at the Bryan Clay Invitational in California in April. It was the best high jump mark in the Summit League this season.
Since then, the native of Lincoln, Neb. won the Summit League high jump championship for the third straight year. She became the first Summit League athlete, male or female, to win the outdoor high jump in three consecutive years.
Ahrens earned All-Summit honors for winning the high jump. She also was the Summit indoor high jump champion in 2018.
This is Ahrens' third appearance in the NCAA West Preliminary. She is attempting to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. on June 6-9.
