Clinton, Hadford Garner CSCAA Scholar All-America Recognition

NORFOLK, Va. – The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recognized the Omaha women's swimming and diving team, along with student-athletes Annika Clinton and Naeleah Hadford for their performances athletically and academically.
As a team, the Mavericks combined for a 3.43 GPA in the spring and was of 273 Division I institutions to be named a CSCAA Scholar All-America team.
Individually, after coming off stellar seasons that included NCAA appearances, both Clinton and Hadford were both named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America team as individuals.
"It has been a tremendous year for us after we finished second at the Summit League Championships, new school records, our first swimming b-cut and three divers making it to zones," said head coach Todd Samland. "Our coaches believe in balance and drive so academics are very important to us. Along with the placing 15 swimmers and divers on the Summit League Commissioner's list of Academic Excellence, we are very proud of Annika Clinton and Naeleah Hadford being recognized as CSCAA Scholar All- Americans. It has been a tremendous year for the academic success of our program."
The award is considered the highest honor from the CSCAA, and selections are made up from swimmers and divers who have earned a GPA of 3.50 or higher, while also exceeding NCAA qualifying standards.
As a diver, Clinton earned All-Summit honors in the 1-meter dive along with Academic All-Summit League recognition. She recorded a runner-up finish in the 1-meter dive at The Summit League Championships and qualified for the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in the 3-meter dive and the CSCAA National Invitation Championships in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Clinton holds a cumulative grade-point average of 3.67 and is a journalism and media communication major.
As a freshman, Hadford garnered All-Summit awards in the 50 free, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay and 400 free relay. She set a new program record in the 50-yard free with a time of 22.93 at The Summit League Championships, and was also part of three record-breaking relay teams in the 200 and 400-yard medley relay teams, and the 200-yard free relay. She also appeared in the CSCAA National Invitation Championships for the 50-yard free, 100-yard free and 100-yard back. Hadford holds a 3.618 cumulative GPA and is a kinesiology major.
