SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Omaha men's golf team tied for sixth in the annual Summit League preseason head coaches' poll.
The Mavericks and Purdue Fort Wayne each received 28 points in the voting, finishing behind South Dakota State and ahead of Western Illinois. South Dakota was picked to win the Summit Championship, receiving 55 points and four first-place votes. Denver was second with 53 points and three first-place votes and Oral Roberts was third with 49 points. The complete poll appears below.
Junior Witchayapat Sinsrang was named a "Player to Watch" in the Summit League this season. After four fall events, he ranks ninth in the league with a stroke average of 73.4. He shot the lowest round of the fall season in the Summit when he posted a 65 in the third round of the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate last October. In all, he posted two top-10 finishes in four fall tournaments.
The Mavericks begin the spring season at The Invitational at Savannah Harbor hosted by William and Mary on Feb. 16-17. The Summit League Championship will be held on April 28-30 in Newton, Kan.
