Mavericks Conclude Second Day at Kansas Classic

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Omaha swimming and diving program concluded its second day at the Kansas Classic on Saturday in Lawrence, Kan.

The Mavericks qualified 11 swimmers to the finals in four different events.

Omaha sent six athletes to the finals in the 100 breast, led by an eighth-place finish by Caroline Gardner with a time of 1:03.97.

Annie Leinart clocked a 1:05.81 to place 14^th while Abigail Mitchell swam a 1:06.60 to post a 19^th-place finish.

Alyssa Parsons placed 22^nd with a time of 1:07.15 and Maddie Mather swam a 1:07.45 to finish in 24^th-place while Brook Landt clocked a 1:08.93 to place 31^st.

In the 100 fly, Bethany Gatlin placed 23^rd with a finish of 58.28 and Rebecca Martini swam a 59.43 to finish in 31^st-place.

Mitchell led the Mavericks with a time of 57.84 to place 15^th in the 100 back. Megan Latta finished in 20^th-place with a time of 58.10 and Mallory Dickey swam a 1:00.24 to place 24^th.

Martini tallied a 4:30.64 time in the 400 IM to finish in an 11^th-place and Lizzy Giese placed 14^th with a time of 4:32.23. Dickey notched an 18^th-place finish with a clocked time of 4:33.79 while Mather swam a 4:34.28 to place 20^th.

The Mavericks wrap up action at the Kansas Classic tomorrow at 9 a.m.
