SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Junior Emily Johnson has been named to the Summit League's Cross Country Academic All-League Team, one of just five runners to earn the honor.
Johnson carries a 3.849 grade-point average in biology with a minor in chemistry.
The native of Elkhorn, Neb. is coming off the finest fall of her career. She earned First Team All-Summit distinction for finishing third overall at the Summit League Championships in Fargo, N.D. on Nov. 2. It was Omaha's highest finish in the championship in seven years.
Johnson competed in five of six meets for the Mavericks, leading them in all five and posting three top-five finishes. She set the school 6K cross country record with a time of 21:12.9 at the Bradley Pink Classic on Oct. 18, finishing fourth overall.
She also put up a lifetime best 5K time of 17:06.31 at the Augustana Twilight on Sept. 6.
No stranger to academic awards, Johnson is a two-time member of the Summit Academic Honor Roll and last season was named to the Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence.
