Swimming and Diving Adds 14 for 2020-21

OMAHA, Neb. – Head swimming and diving coach Todd Samland announced the addition of 14 student-athletes to the Maverick program for 2020-21.
"This class is an exciting group of people," said Samland. "We were looking for people who would contribute to our program in three ways: culture, academics and talent. With the addition of these athletes to our current team, we will be a better team in and out of the water. Many of them are currently trending up and wanting to work hard to keep improving."
Jillian Altmaier (Lincoln, Neb.)
Altmaier is a four-year letterwinner in swimming at Lincoln East High School while also competing in cross country and soccer. She swam for the Greater Nebraska Swim team in club action.
Morgan Baker (Hastings, Neb.)
Baker is a three-year letterwinner and has set school records in 10 events at Hastings High School. She has placed in the 50 free and 100 free in all three years at state while being a three-time conference champion in both events. Baker is a three-time all-conference selection and has been named to the USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Second Team in all three years.
Darby Drake (Traverse City, Mich.)
Drake is a three-year letterwinner at Traverse City West Senior High School. She placed first at the conference meet and qualified for state in all three years, including placing 12th as a junior. Competed with the TC Twisters club team and won the YMCA Nationals in 2017.
Caroline Dye (Whitefish, Mont.)
Dye is a three-year letterwinner at Glacier High School. She finished third in the 200 IM and sixth in the 100 fly at the state meet as a freshman. As a sophomore, Dye placed third in the 100 free at the state meet and was an all-state selection while also placing sixth in the 4x400 relay in track at the MHSA Divisionals. While competing with the Kalispell Aquatic team, she made the western zone team four times and holds records with her previous club team, Wave Ryders swim team.
Parker Hagemann (St. Louis, Mo.)
Hagemann is a three-year letterwinner at Webster Groves High School. She has been named all-conference and qualified for state in her first three years. Hagemann led her team to a combined 24-3 record while placing third in the team standings at state for the first time in school history. With the Clayton Shaw Park Club team, helped the club reach the Spring Sectionals in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and Summer Sectionals in 2018 and 2019.
Abby Kohl (Cypress, Texas)
Kohl is a three-year letterwinner at Cypress Creek High School. She was named academic all-district for three years and was a regional finalist in her sophomore season. Kohl swam with the Swim Streamline at Northampton club under head coach Laura Davis. She earned the Iron Woman award and was a top-eight finisher in the 1500 free at the Southern Senior Zones.
Genna Lammon (Vacaville, Calif.)
Lammon swam at Vacaville High School and competed in the 100 fly and 100 back. She competed for the Davis Aquadarts Racing Team in club action under head coach Billy Doughty.
Grace Lapuz (Davis, Calif.)
Lapuz is a three-time letterwinner in swimming at Davis Senior High School. She has helped lead her team to three consecutive CIF San Joaquin Section titles. Lapuz was named freshman athlete of the year while reaching the A final in the 100 breast and 200 IM at CIF Sections. As a sophomore, she won the B final in the 100 breast and made the A final in 200 IM and 100 breast in her junior season.
Camille Lease (Columbia, Mo.)
Lease is a three-year letterwinner at David H. Hickman High School. She placed 12th at state in the 500 free as a freshman. As a sophomore, Lease was a member of school record-breaking 200 free relay and finished sixth in the 500 free and 100 breast at state. While swimming with the Columbia Swim Club, Lease was a sectional qualifier in the 50 breast, 100 breast, 200 breast, 200 free, 500 free, 1000 free, 1650 free and 200 IM.
Carina Monroe (Wadsworth, Ill.)
Monroe is a three-year letterwinner at Carmel Catholic High School. As a sophomore, she placed third at the IHSA Sectionals in the 500 free and sixth in the 200 free. Monroe finished fourth in the 500 free and seventh in the 200 free at the IHSA Sectionals in her junior year. With the Pleasant Prairie Club team, she won the 3K at the Wisconsin Open Water State Championship in 2018 and 2019. Monroe was a member of the U-20 United States relay team at the UANA Pan American Junior Open Water Championships.
Riana Scott (La Grande, Ore.)
Scott is a three-year letterwinner at La Grande High School. She was district champion, placed second at state and set new district records in the 200 IM and 100 back as a freshman. Scott was voted most valuable swimmer as a sophomore after finishing third at state in the 200 IM and fourth in the 100 back. While swimming with La Grande Swim Club, she was a six-time Western Zone qualifier, three-time senior sectional qualifier and helped her team capture the Western Zone All-Star Championship in 2017.
Makayla Swigert (Windsor, Mo.)
Swigert competed year long with the Northland United Club Team, competing in meets at the sectional and championship level.
Olivia Theil (Lincoln, Neb.)
Theil is a three-time letterwinner at Lincoln Pius X High School. She has been a state finalist in all three years in the 200 free and 500 free.
Mya Winjum (Fargo, N.D.)
Winjum is a three-year letterwinner in swimming at Ronald N. Davies High School. She finished third in the Eastern Dakota Conference and fifth at the state meet while voted the most valuable diver as a freshman. Winjum was crowned state champion as a sophomore while named to the all-conference first team and all-state first team. In her junior season, she placed third at conference and fourth at state and was selected to the all-state first team. As a member of Red River Diving, Winjum placed third at the 2016 USA Diving Region 8 Championship and qualified for the USA Diving Junior Nationals in 2016.
