Senior Brekk Flax ran lifetime best times in the 60 m and 200 m dashes at Northwest Missouri State.
Multiple PR’s Highlight Mavericks’ Season Opener

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Omaha track & field team kicked of its indoor season at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic at Northwest Missouri State on Saturday.
"With our distance crew still resting from cross country, we only brought a small number of people, but did they pack a punch," said head coach Chris Richardson. "This has been a great fall training session, and this was a great meet to see where we stand."
Senior Brekk Flax notched a couple of lifetime bests in the sprints. She ran a time of 7.86 in the 60 meters, placing fourth in the event.
She also clocked a lifetime best of 26.41 in the 200 meters.
Also in the 60 meters, Scarlett Hill posted a lifetime best time of 7.94, finishing eighth. Freshman Carrie Simonson, in her first collegiate race, ran a time of 8.06.
Simonson shone in the field where she put up a long jump mark of 17-05, good for a seventh-place finish.
In the throws, Cecelia Ivwionrume had a lifetime best of 43-06 ½ in the weight throw, two feet better than her previous best and good for 11th place.
Jaycee Schettler also posted multiple PR's. She ran a time of 9.93 in the 60 meter hurdles and clocked a time of 1:33.31 in the 600 yards.
The Mavericks will now have more than a month off before returning to action at the Graduate Classic at Nebraska on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 17-18.
