SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Senior Stephanie Ahrens garnered Summit League Athlete of the Week honors for her record-breaking performance in the high jump last weekend, the league announced today.
The Lincoln, Neb., native jumped a new school record of 6-0'.5" in the high jump and won the event at the Northwest Missouri State Invitational last Saturday, Feb. 9.
With that record, she now ranks fifth in the NCAA for the high jump and her new mark breaks her previous four-year old indoor record of 5'10.75" at the Holiday Inn Invite, set in Lincoln, Neb., on Jan. 17, 2015.
She also became the first UNO athlete in program history to jump over six feet in the event.
The Mavericks return to action this Friday, Feb. 15, at noon in the Nebraska Tune-Up, which marks the final regular season indoor meet before The Summit League Championships Feb. 22-23.
