Track and Field Concludes Action in Vermillion, Lincoln

VERMILLION, S.D. – The Omaha track and field program concluded its weekend with the Dakota Realty Alumni Meet at South Dakota.
"This was a great day for Omaha track and field," said head coach Chris Richardson. "We had almost more lifetimes bests than I count. The support this team shows for one another is a big reason why they're able to do the things that they are."

In the 60-meter finals, Brekk Flax posted a fourth-place result with a time of 7.95, just .03 off her personal best. Right behind was Scarlett Hill in fifth, who posted a new lifetime best of 7.98 seconds. In seventh was Erinoelle Clifton who tallied a new personal best of 8.05 in seventh, while Sophia Kirwan also ran an 8.05, just .01 off her lifetime best.
In the finals of the 200-meter dash, Hill earned another top-5 result, finishing fifth in the event with a new personal best of 26.71 seconds. Just behind in sixth and seventh were Clifton and Kirwan, who both ran their second-fastest times of 26.86 and 26.87 seconds, respectively.
Lauren Houston ran a personal best in the 800-meter run at 2:15.84 for third, while the trio of Heidi Hall, Anita Jenkins and Ivanna Uribe all ran new lifetime bests in the 3000-meter run with times of 10:47.31, 10:51.66 and 10:58.57.

Cassady Sunderman tied her personal best in the high jump at a height of 5'3" (1.60m) for third. Rounding out the team's top-5 event results was Anna Edet, who concluded the weight throw in fifth after she tossed a distance of 57'10.25" (17.63m).
In Lincoln, Neb., at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, Stephanie Ahrens leaped a height of 5'8.5" (1.74m) which put her second overall behind Marusa Cernjul, who jumped 6'2.25" (1.90m) as an unattached competitor. Amongst the collegiate competitors, Ahrens finished atop the standings.Â

The Mavericks now shift their focus to the Northwest Open Feb. 8-9, in Maryville, Mo.
