SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Omaha swimming and diving team finished the third day of The Summit League Championships Friday afternoon.

Through three days of competition, the Mavericks sit in third out of six teams with 402 points behind Denver (803) and South Dakota (473).

In the 400 medley relay finals, the team of Kirsten Kracke, Grete Baker, Bethany Gatlin and Rachel Morrow finished third (3:48.84). With that time, the team qualified for the National Invitational Championships in the event. The time also ranks third all-time in school history.

Omaha also had a trio of swimmers place in the top-8 for the 400 IM with Baker in fourth (4:27.29), Lizzy Giese in sixth (4:31.47) and Rebecca Martini in eighth (4:36.15).

Morrow had another top-8 result in the 200-yard freestyle finals with a time of 1:51.89 for sixth. In the 100-yard backstroke, Kracke medaled and placed third (56.45) in the finals. Her time now ranks second all-time in school history, just barely behind former Maverick Ali Petersen's 55.60 in 2002. Madison Ewald also had a fifth-place finish in the event (57.74).

Jacquelyn Gaworski had a runner-up performance in the 1-meter dive (246.00), while Annika Clinton finished fifth in the event (240.15). Madeline Taylor rounded out the Omaha scoring with an eighth-place finish (231.75).

"We experienced another great night," said head coach Todd Samland. "Our 400 medley relay team qualified for the National Invitational Championships. We had three people place in the top-8 in 1-meter diving and the 400 IM. I am very pleased at the competitive tenacity of our team, as they are always competing."

The Mavericks close out the championships with the final day tomorrow, Feb. 23. The preliminaries begin at 10 a.m., with the remaining event finals set for a 5 p.m. start time.
