Day 4 Results Final Results

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Omaha swimming and diving program capped off the weekend with the final day of The Summit League Championships.

In total, the Mavericks finished third with 615 points behind league champion Denver (1,183 points) and runner-up South Dakota (676). Following Omaha was South Dakota State in fourth (451.6), Western Illinois in fifth (274.5) and Eastern Illinois in sixth (198).

"The Maverick family should be very proud of our team this weekend," said head coach Todd Samland. "Our swimmers and diver performed at a very high level over the past four days. This is an amazing group of women with the true essence of team with so much support and encouragement. It is a pleasure to coach them and this program"

In the 100 IM finals, Bethany Gatlin had a top-8 finish with a sixth-place result on a time of 59.53 seconds. Kylie Vermeire and Lauryn Schieffer finished fourth and fifth with 1650 freestyle finals times of 17:28.10 and 17:35.31, respectively. Lizzy Giese finished eighth in the event with a time of 18:10.71.

Schieffer and Vermeire also had top-8 results in the 200 backstroke after they posted times of 2:07.02 and 2:09.92 to finish seventh and eighth. In the 100-yard freestyle, Kirsten Kracke posted a fifth-place result (51.36) along with Rachel Morrow finishing seventh (51.46).

Abbey Mitchell tallied an eighth-place result in the 200 breaststroke (2:28.28). Lastly, the 400 freestyle relay team finished runner-up to medal with a time of 3:26.16. The team of Morrow, Madison Ewald, Anna Capoun and Kracke now rank third-all time in school history for the event.
