CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Omaha swimming program concluded the 2018-19 season at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships Saturday afternoon.
The day was highlighted by Kylie Vermeire's 17:12.32 in the 1650-yard freestyle. She finished 20th and her time marked a new school record, breaking the old one by nearly eight seconds (17:20.61) set by Lindsey Kline in 2008.
The other standout performance took place in the 400 free relay, where the team of Rachel Morrow, Anna Capoun, Madison Ewald and Kirsten Kracke took 15th in the event with a time of 3:25.66. The performance now ranks second all-time and narrowly missed out on the school record of 3:25.52 by less than a second, which was set in 2008.
What a great day for us," said head coach Todd Samland. "Kylie put together an incredible 1650-yard free which set a new school record. Our last event of the meet, the 400-yard free relay, placed 15th, scored points and just missed a new school record. I am so proud of how we performed this weekend and hats off to our four seniors who put together some lifetime best swims."
