HOCKEY

The Omaha hockey team went 2-1-0 in the second week of the NCHC Pod at Baxter Arena. The Mavericks opened the week with a 6-1 win over Colorado College. Six different players scored goals, and Isaiah Saville made 31 saves.
On Saturday, the Mavericks outshot Miami 30-12 but could not solve goaltender Ludvig Persson in a 1-0 loss to the RedHawks.
The Mavericks closed the week with a sturdy 2-0 win over No. 11 St. Cloud State. Kirby Proctor and Tyler Weiss each scored their first goals of the season, and sophomore goaltender Austin Roden made the lead stand up with 41 saves in his first appearance of the season.








MEN'S BASKETBALL

Omaha played its highest-ranked opponent in its Division I history Friday, falling 95-50 at No. 5 Kansas. Wanjang Tut paced the Mavericks with a season-high 14 points alongside five rebounds, and Jadin Booth joined him in double figures with a season-best 11 points. Darrius Hughes pulled down a team-leading six rebounds with five points and three steals.









WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Omaha staged another fourth-quarter rally but came up short Saturday, falling 66-59 at Kansas State.
Ella Ogier's season-high 18 points led Omaha, as she hit 8-of-12 from floor and added four rebounds. Josie Filer had 11 points -- all in the first half -- and Mariah Murdie chipped in 11 more for a season-best scoring effort. Murdie added four rebounds and three steals.
