NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Omaha cross country team is one of 237 Division I teams to be named an All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Teams must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 to earn the distinction. Omaha had a team GPA of 3.54 following the fall semester.
"We preach consistency to our team on nearly a daily basis," said cross country head coach Cliff Cisar. "Consistent effort on and off the course, in the classroom, in our training, and anywhere they want to succeed.
"These All-Academic acknowledgments back up the dedication and consistent effort our student athletes put in every day," added Cisar. "With the help of, in my opinion, the best academic support staff in the country, I'm proud to see these students continue to push their limits educationally and athletically."
The Mavericks have been honored in each year since their reclassification to Division I began in 2011.
