Landt, Giese Named Academic All-Summit

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Brook Landt and Lizzy Giese were named to the 2019-20 Summit League Women's Swimming and Diving Academic All-League Team, the league announced on Thursday.
A total of 19 student-athletes were named to the women's team and honored for their academic and athletic performances this season.
Landt carries a 3.82 grade-point average in biology while collecting All-Summit honors in the 200 medley relay. The Castle Rock, Colo., native placed 13th in the 100 breast and was a member of the fourth-place 200 free relay team at the Summit League Championships.
"Brook is an incredibly smart person," said head coach Todd Samland. "She completed her first two years of college, took a year off to participate in a world mission trip and came back to college and still finished in four years. She has all of the tools to be whatever she wants to be and she will do well."
Giese holds a 3.75 GPA in kinesiology while a member of the 800 free relay that set a school record and earned All-Summit honors. The Coon Rapids, Minn., native also placed fifth in the 400 IM and eighth in the 1650 free at the Summit League Championships.
"Lizzy has such great passion working with people and it's what drives her academically," added Samland. "She found early that when she is working and helping people, she tends to excel. It is also what made her a great captain for our team. I look forward to seeing what Lizzy does in graduate school next year and the steps she takes in the years to come."
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30, completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions. The all-league team is made up of the 15 student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
