2019-20 Omaha Swimming and Diving - Year in Review

The Maverick swim & dive team accomplished many accolades and achievements in the 2019-20 season. The slate featured national recognition in the classroom, a record-setting relay, All-Summit honors and a diver setting a new standard for the program.
Excellence in the Classroom
The Mavericks posted the highest team grade-point average among all DI women's programs with a 3.76 GPA. Omaha was one of 762 programs from 480 institutions named to the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America list for the Fall 2019 semester.

Record-Setting Marks
Bethany Gatlin, Annie Leinart, Rachel Morrow and Lizzy Giese teamed up to set a school record in the 800 free relay on the first day of the Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships. The quartet placed second with a school record time of 7:29.56, besting the previous school record of 7:29.79.
Freshman Caroline Gardner also set a school record at the Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships with a time of 1:02.90 in the 100 breast.

All-Summit Accolades
Omaha landed seven athletes on the All-Summit list. Caroline Gardner earned All-Summit honors in the 100 breast and 200 medley relay. Joining Gardner in the 200 medley relay were Bethany Gatlin, Brook Landt and Megan Latta.
Gatlin, Lizzy Giese, Annie Leinart and Rachel Morrow also earned All-Summit recognition in the 800 free relay.
Gardner Named Swimmer of the Week
Freshman Caroline Gardner was named Summit League Swimmer of the Week and collecting two relay wins and a pair of individual victories at the Jackrabbit Invite.
The Plymouth, Minn., native was a member of the winning 200 medley and 200 free relay teams while recording victories in the 100 breast and 100 IM.

Eller Dives into New Territory
Kady Eller became the first Maverick diver in the Division I era to reach the semifinals at a large fall invite.
The freshman advanced to the semifinals of the Phill Hansen Invitational after posting a score of 219.10 in the preliminary round. Eller totaled a 216.05 in the semifinal round to earn an 11th-place finish.
