Drake Picks Up Third Diver of the Week Honor

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the third time this season, freshman Darby Drake collected Summit League Diver of the Week accolades, the league office announced Tuesday.

Drake swept the diving events vs. South Dakota State last weekend posting first place finishes in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.

"Darby continues to impress me with her work ethic," said diving coach Eric Sprague. "We've got a couple weeks to identify our list for the championships, and I'm excited to see what Darby and her teammates get accomplished."

Drake posted a score of 235.72 in the 3-meter event and a 248.48 score in the 1-meter event for the Mavericks. Both scores were at least six points higher than the second place finisher.

This marks the third honor this season for Drake. She previous earned Diver of the Week on Jan. 26 and Nov. 10.

"Darby is doing some great things on the board and is a growth oriented athlete," said head coach Todd Samland. "Just as important, she is a great teammate and enjoys seeing the success of her fellow divers."
