2020-21 Maverick Awards To Air Sunday Night

OMAHA, Neb. – The Maverick Awards, Omaha Athletics' annual celebration of its outstanding student-athletes, will air on Sunday, April 25, beginning at 6 p.m. CT. It is the first time the event has been available to a worldwide audience.
The Maverick Awards can be seen at OMavs.com/MaverickAwards, on Facebook at Facebook.com/omavs and through the @OmahaVid Twitter account.
The event, which began in 2009-10, recognizes Maverick athletes for their achievements during the past season and for their careers. The highlights of the night are the Connie Claussen Senior Career Achievement Award and the Don Leahy Senior Career Achievement Award. Each is given to the female and male four-year senior who has built an outstanding athletic, academic and community service career as a Maverick.
Other awards include the Male and Female Athlete of the Year, the Male and Female Newcomer of the Year, the Dr. John Langan Phoenix Award recognizing athletes who have overcome adversity, the Bob Kruger Commitment Award recognizing community service and the Maverick Muscle Awards for male and female student-athletes, recognizing outstanding achievement in strength and conditioning.
The Mavericks also will present "social awards" for best celebration, best streak, best clutch player and career defining moments. The winners will be selected by a fan vote at the @omavs Twitter account.
Due to COVID concerns, the show has been prerecorded with social distancing in place to protect student-athletes and staff.
