Omaha Takes Home Three Weekly Awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Omaha swimming & diving earned three of the four Summit League Weekly awards after its opening weekend of action.
Darby Drake was tabbed the TicketSmarter Peak Diver of the Week, while Payton Easley and Grant Waszak were named the TicketSmarter Peak Swimmer of the Week.
Drake posted a first-place score of 251.03 vs. St. Cloud State in the 1M-dive last weekend for the fifth weekly honor of her career.
"This is great early season recognition for Darby," said diving coach Eric Sprague. "She competed well last weekend, and I think she set a good foundation for the season with her performance against St. Cloud. Darby has set some purposeful and lofty goals this season that I'm excited to watch her work towards."
Easley took first in two events. She swam a time of 53.06 in the 100-Free. Easley swam a time of 24.35 in the 50-Free. It's her first career honor.
Waszak had two second-place individual finishes. He swam a time of 21.40 in the 50-free and a time of 47.58 in the 100-free. It also marks his first ever weekly award.
"I was really excited to see Payton and Grant step up in the sprint events during our first week of competition," said interim head coach Jessical Hessel. "They weren't affraid to attack their races and it paid off. Congrats to these two!"
