Cross Country Puts the 2022 Season in the Books
Nov 11, 2022 | Cross Country
The Omaha Mavericks 2022 Cross Country season is officially in the books after racing in the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships this afternoon. The Mavericks finished 28th out of the 33 scored teams.
Freshman runner Kamryn Ensley finished her rookie season by setting the Omaha school record in the 6K with a time of 20:54.2. It's the second highest finish the Mavericks have ever had and the highest by a freshman.
"Kamryn capped off an impressive freshman campaign today with another school record. (Her previous record from the Summit League Championships was deemed invalid due to the course length being too short.) It's exciting to see how consistent she was throughout the year and how much she improved from her senior year," Omaha head coach Cliff Cisar said.
Seniors Maya Nachtigal and Danielle Howard finished second and third for the Mavericks this afternoon in their final races in a Omaha uniform. Nachtigal finished with a time of 22:12.1 and Howard ran 23:14.6.
"I can't thank the career efforts of Maya Nachtigal and Danielle Howard enough," Cisar said. "Both had great races today to conclude their collegiate cross country career. Both ran to me their absolute best collegiate cross country effort today just narrowly missing lifetime bests and one of the tougher cross country courses in the entire region. They have been two of the most impactful members over the course of the last four years and I am so fortunate to have had the ability to watch them grow and flourish on and off the course."
The Mavericks will rest up for the next two weeks until the Indoor Track and Field season starts on December 2nd.
