
Mavericks Finish Day One At Islander Classic

San Antonio, Texas- The Omaha women's golf team looks ahead to the final rounds after finishing day one with a share of 15th place at the Islander Classic hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
The Mavericks finished the first round Monday afternoon with a team score of 319. The second round was halted due to darkness before any team finished. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi leads the tournament after day one with a team score of 290.
Jinna Boonbumroongsuk is currently tied for fifteenth place on the individual leaderboard, shooting one-over in the first round Monday. The sophomore holds a score of 69 with two holes to play in round two. Jinna B. birdied five holes on day one, ranking sixth among all golfers in the tournament.
Mika Miyata ends the day with an 81 in round one and five holes to play in round two. The sophomore is tied for 56th on the leaderboard and is five-over in the second round.
Mandi Granato and Sydney Taake are tied for 71st place after day one. Granato scored 84 in the first round, and Taake scored 82. Mandi has three holes left in round two to improve on her score of 66. Sydney has four holes to complete and currently holds a score of 63 in the round.
Emma Kirvan will finish three more holes to close round two tomorrow. The freshman carries a round score of 71 into the tournament's final day after scoring 90 in round one.
The final round at Brackenridge Park Golf Course will begin after all golfers finish round two. Action resumes at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22. Live stats are available on OMavs.com.
