Mavericks Head to Grand Forks For Summit League Championships

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha track & field team will be in Grand Forks, N.D. for the Summit League Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 25-26.
The championships will begin at 9:30 a.m. CT on both days with the multi-events. Field events will start at 3 p.m. CT on Friday and 11 a.m. CT on Saturday. Running events will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. CT on Saturday.
The Mavericks will be looking to the high jump and pentathlon as their best opportunities to score points. Sheridan Rodriguez ranks fifth in the league in the high jump this season with a lifetime best mark of 5-07 at the SDSU Holiday Open and Jim Emmerich Invite.
In the pentathlon, Sophomore Taylor Ramaekers ranks eighth in the league with a lifetime best score of 3,217 earlier this season at the 2022 Bearcat Invite on Feb. 4.

In the 800 meters, Paige Blackford ranks 11th in the league with a lifetime best of 2:14.95 at the SDSU Indoor Classic on Feb. 11.
In the 5000 meters, Maya Nachtigal ranks 10th in the league this season with a time of 18:16.90, her lifetime best, at the SDSU Indoor Classic.
The distance medley relay team of Gwen Steffen, Macy Persinger, Paige Blackford and Maya Nachtigal ranks first in the league this season with a time of 12:37.41 at Nebraska Graduate Classic on Jan. 14.
In the field events, Carrie Simonson had an indoor best jump of 18'1.5" at the Nebraska Tune-Up on Feb. 18, good for 12th in the league.
In the shot put, Mary Fennessy's throw of 43'3.75" at the Nebraska Tune-Up ranks her 13th in the league heading into the championships.
Following the championship, the Mavericks will be off until March 25 when they begin the outdoor season at the Shocker Spring Invitational in Wichita, KS.
