Jul 27, 2022 | General
OMAHA, Neb. - Derrick Sheppard joins the Omaha Athletics ticketing staff as the assistant athletic director of athletic ticketing. Sheppard will oversee season tickets, renewals, day-to-day operations for all Omaha athletic events.
"We're excited to have Derrick join our staff and bring him closer to his roots in Omaha," said executive associate athletic director Mike West. "Derrick has an understanding of the Summit League and excellent client and donor relations skills. He will work well in our Omaha community and be able to collaborate with our ticketing and marketing staff on a strategic plan and revenue generation for the department."
Sheppard comes to Omaha following a five-year stint at South Dakota. He served in a variety of roles in the Coyote ticket office. In his most recent role, Sheppard led the department as the director of ticket sales and operations. He managed ticket sales, renewals, and game day ticket office operations.
Prior to his director role, Sheppard spent two years as an assistant director of ticket operations. He got his start with the Coyotes as a graduate assistant in 2018.
The Fremont, Nebraska, native graduated from Sioux Falls with a bachelor's degree in sport management in 2018. He was a member of the Cougars track and field program.
"I would like to thank Adrian Dowell and Mike West for the opportunity to join the Omaha Athletics staff," said Sheppard. "It is an exciting time at Omaha, and I am thrilled to be a part of it! Being closer to home has always been something I have looked forward to. The best part is that UNO is only about 25 minutes from my hometown. Paying it back by providing service to the Omaha community will be a pleasure!"
While throwing for USF, he won the 2017 NSIC Championship in the weight throw. During his time as a graduate assistant in the ticket office, he competed for the Coyote track & field team. At the 2019 Summit League Championships, he threw a personal-best of 186 feet, 8 inches, in the hammer throw.
Sheppard is joined by his wife Molly in Omaha.
