Mavericks Climb Five Spots In Round Three

Manhattan, Kan.- The Omaha men's golf team finished the Kansas State Wildcat Invitational in eighth place on Tuesday.Â
The Mavericks entered the third round of play at Colbert Hills golf course in 13th place with team scores of 296 and 305 in the first two rounds. Omaha totaled 293 in the third round, climbing five spots to finish just behind Kansas City, who takes seventh place with 893. Kansas State won their invitational, taking first place with 837 through 54 holes as a team, finishing 27 strokes ahead of runner-up North Dakota State.Â
Carter Doose finished with an even 72 in the third round. The junior takes a share of 21st place on the leaderboard as he led the Mavericks with a total score of 220. That is the lowest 54-hole tournament score for Doose as a Maverick, beating his previous career best of 221, which he posted last spring at the Stampede at the Creek.Â
Mathew Halvorson posted a 74 (+2) in the third round to finish with a three-round total of 223. The third-year veteran takes a share of 24th place overall. One stroke behind Halvorson, Nolan Johnson ends in a tie for 27th place with a 54-hole score of 224 in his first collegiate event. The freshman notched an even 72 in the final round on Tuesday.Â
Tyler Eedy earned a share of 42nd place with a three-round score of 227. Eedy, the sophomore transfer from Michigan State, recorded a 75 (+3) in the third round. Jack Tickle shot an 86 in round three to finish the first event of the season with a score of 250.Â
The Mavericks have a week off before they head to Collinsville, Ill. for the Derek Dolenc Intercollegiate, hosted by SIUE. Action begins at 8:30 A.M. on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 26-27.Â
