OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha diving coach Eric Sprague announced the addition of Anna Filipcic to the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant. Filipcic began with the program in August of 2022.
"I am thrilled to announce that Anna is joining the Omaha Maverick dive team as she begins her coaching journey," said Sprague. "Anna is recognizable in the diving community and known for her hard work, focus, and dedication, as well as her incredible athletic accomplishments. I've enjoyed watching Anna build easy and quick relationships with our whole swim and dive team, and the divers here are already benefiting from her knowledge and experience. I'm excited for what's ahead!"
Filipcic put up an illustrious four-year career at Nebraska as part of their diving squad. She was a four-time NCAA Championships qualifier and earned All-American Honors in 2016 as an honorable mention after placing 10th in the 1M-Dive.
She posted seven career top-25 NCAA finishes, was the Big Ten runner up in 2016 and 2017, had eight career top-10 Big Ten finishes, a 2017 Big Ten Second Team selection, and earned eight Big Ten Diver of the Week Honors.
In 2017, Filipcic notched the Nebraska school record with a score of 387.35 in the 3M-Dive at the conference championships. She also holds the Devaney Pool record in the 1M-Dive with a score of 346.88 set in 2017.
Filipcic was a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American, Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, and Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
Prior to her collegiate career, Filipcic was an All-American at Burke High School. She was a three-time Junior National Qualifier with a runner-up finish in the 1M-Dive in 2013.
Filipcic graduated from Nebraska in 2018 with a bachelor of arts degree. She later completed her master of music degree at Florida State in 2021.
