Cross Country Earns 2022 USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

The Women's Scholar Team of the Year and All-Academic Teams for the 2022 NCAA Division I Cross Country season were announced on Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. The Mavericks land on the list with a cumulative GPA of 3.545.
"Collectively we had an impressive Fall and this honor is just icing on the cake," Mavericks head coach Cliff Cisar said. "We consistently ask a lot of our student-athletes, as students, athletes, as community ambassadors, and as people. It always impresses me how they rise to the occasion and handle their work/life balance with grace and raise the bar every year. This honor couldn't go without mentioning our unbelievably dedicated academic staff, specifically Dani Brooke. We are very fortunate to have the best around for the support of our student athletes."
Overall, there were 249 different programs who were named All-Academic Teams for their efforts during the 2022 season. Omaha has been an All-Academic team every year during the Division I era. Vanessa Gunderson, Madeline Yardley and Maya Nachtigal led the Mavericks with GPA's of 4.00, 3.97 and 3.904 respectively. Â
