Mavericks Close Out Summit League Championships with Five Runners in Top 45

In their penultimate meet of the season, the Omaha Mavericks Cross Country team placed sixth in the 2023 Summit League Cross Country Championship. All five of Omaha's point placers finished in the top 45 of the field.
"Today wasn't our sharpest showing," Omaha head coach Cliff Cisar said. "After about 3000m we had given up too many important sports to keep us in contention of fifth. We were missing one of our key members in Maddie Yardley who'd been a part of our top 5 nearly every meet this year who rested in for to be ready for Regionals."
Pacing all Mavericks this afternoon was Sophomore runner Kamryn Ensley. Ensley finished 22nd overall with a time of 22:18.32. She was followed closely by Senior Lauren Metzger who ran a 22:28.90 to finish 25th overall. The third Maverick to cross the finish line today was Lior Kremer who placed 34th overall running to a time of 22:54.70. Katelyn Johnston finished 41st overall with a time of 23:06.64.
Senior runner Emily Treptow came up big for the Mavericks this afternoon as Omaha's final point placer. She finished 44th overall with a time of 23:16.99.
"I'd like to highlight Emily Treptow who ran the best race of her Maverick career," Cisar said. "A technical PR as last year's Summit Course was incredibly short. Without her stepping up today, we wouldn't have maintained our team position."
The Mavericks will now turn their sights to the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships on November 10 in Stillwater Oklahoma. For results of today's conference meet, click here.
